Flight of Fancy podcast: The classic Australian road trip - what makes it so great?

There might not be a better country in the world for a road trip than Australia. Think about it: we have everything here. We have untold reaches of perfect, flat bitumen stretching out to every corner of the nation. We have rough outback tracks, corrugated dirt roads and everything in between.

We have landscapes that morph and develop as your wheels turn, deserts that become forests, mountains that become plains, beaches that become jungles. We have wildlife. We have country towns. We have rest stops and servos and campgrounds and motels. We have big pineapples and big bogans and big Ned Kellys. And we have plenty of friendly fellow road-trippers with which to swap endless tales.

We have, in other words, all of the ingredients for a perfect road trip. And with current travel restrictions forcing Australians to get behind the wheel for their next holiday, now is the time to plan yours.

On this episode of Flight of Fancy, the Traveller.com.au podcast, I'm joined by fellow travel writers Craig Tansley and Sue Williams to pack the Minties and the Snakes Alive, set up some playlists, fill the tank and hit the road for a great Australian road trip. But, where are they going? And how are they going to get there?
