When you think about it, it has to be one of the most intense relationships you'll ever have.

When you choose to travel with a friend or a partner or even just an acquaintance, you're choosing to spend your every waking holiday moment with a person that you may not know all that well. You're choosing to share every decision with them. You're choosing to share every experience, to share every hotel room, to share every meal and every drink and everything else.

You're choosing to let this strange person see you at your best, and at your worst – and you're choosing to see them at theirs.

Is there any more intense relationship than the one shared by travel buddies? Surely not. And on this episode of Flight of Fancy, we're going to talk about finding a good one.

Traveller.com.au writer Rob McFarland, Intrepid Travel's Lucy Piper and I delve into what makes for the best and worst travel buddies, and share our own experiences on the road.

It's all about good travel buddies and bad ones. It's about making lifelong friends, about those you'll never lose touch with after sharing such amazing experiences; and it's about going overseas with someone and realising that you absolutely hate each other.
