Flight of Fancy podcast: The problem with overcrowded cities - and their lesser known equivalents

NOTE: This podcast was recorded before travel restrictions and rules around social distancing were imposed to control the spread of COVID-19.

Hey, have you heard Venice is suffering from far too many tourists? So is Barcelona and Paris. Okay, so you knew that already. But isn't it funny that we all know that the world's most exciting cities are being loved to death, but we just keep going there?

On this episode of Flight of Fancy, we talking about the problem with overcrowded cities. We're going to take a hard look at why it just keeps getting worse, the ways different cities are working around it, and what we can do to help.

To dig a little deeper, I chat to two travel writers known for taking the road less travelled, Flip Byrnes and Georgia Rickard. We're going to be talking about how to love a city that's being loved to death, including why you should think twice before posting to Instagram, and why staying longer in a popular destination is actually better than paying a flying visit.

We're also going to name some under-the-radar alternatives to the world's most popular destinations, and why they're just as great as their better-known cousins.
