Travel is back! It's actually back. This is not fantasy, it's not a dream – for Australians, finally, this is real. Travel is back.

With the announcement a few weeks ago that the Australian government would lift its ban on outgoing international travel, coupled with NSW and Victoria scrapping its quarantine requirements for arrivals from the first of November, this pursuit we love, this pursuit we've missed for so long, has suddenly returned.

Only… Has it? Because there are still a lot of grey areas. This whole thing still feels pretty clunky, pretty awkward, pretty unpredictable. Travel is back, but is it back for everyone? Because, it doesn't seem like it is.

Plus, international borders are open, but what about state borders? And if you go overseas, can you get back? And what happens if everything just changes in an instant, the way it has been for the last 18 or so months, and you're stuck somewhere with no support? Oh yeah, and what happens if you get COVID-19?

Is travel even a good idea anymore?

On this episode of Flight of Fancy, host Ben Groundwater is joined by fellow Traveller.com.au writers Michael Gebicki and Ute Junker to answer the big questions. What's going on with travel now? Can you do it? Should you do it? What are the requirements? What are the risks?
