HOTEL

I love Ceylon Tea Trails in the hill country of Sri Lanka. Nestled in the Nuwara Eliya tea fields, there are four beautiful managers' cottages, which are quite small but take you back in time. The tariff is all-inclusive and has a wonderful butler service with bed tea. A gentle knock on the door at a time you have specified and your butler pours you a cup of your favourite Dilmah tea while you are in bed.

AIRLINE

It has to be the Singapore Airlines' A380 business class; the seats are massive, the service excellent and it is private, not to mention the full-size bed. I arrive fresh and ready to get straight into the business at hand.

RESORT

Soneva Fushi, Maldives, is a stunning resort with amazing service and food, coupled with perfect natural surroundings. If you are lucky enough to be a return guest, they carve your name in a piece of wood and hang it off your bicycle.

LUGGAGE

I have two sets of luggage; one is for adventure travel and consists of an old-school leather and canvas backpack as hand luggage, and a fantastic Osprey Sojourn backpack with wheels, strong and very practical. The other set is a Samsonite, a large carry-on and a large indestructible hard case with wheels that enable it to be pushed standing up.

ACCESSORY

My bag of electronic attachments, and my grab bag, filled with all the things you may need to survive in a sticky situation. It has come in handy many times and contains a length of strong rope, binoculars, a multifunction tool, two G-clamps, a lifestraw (water filter), a torch, hat, sunscreen, flint, insect repellent and a compact but comprehensive medical kit. It was last used in March 2013 to lower a $135,000 camera off a cliff to the safety of a beach below.
