Instagram influencer Tupi Saravia caught out over fake blue sky in photos

Updated

The photos are your typical Instagram-friendly shots. Beautiful locations, with a smiling model showing off the world.

But one sleuth noticed something was amiss with Tupi Saravia's photos.

In a tweet, Matt Navarra pointed out that the pictures on the Argentine influencer's page have one striking similarity - the same clouds.

"This travel 'influencer' spookily has the same clouds in every photo," wrote Navarra, who credited Twitter user @SantiLishi with the find.

Saravia, who has nearly 300,000 followers, came clean that she had indeed used a little bit of photoshopping.

She told Buzzfeed News that she had used an app called Quickshot to help with the images. It has a feature which allows users to add cloud patterns.

However, Saravia denies conning her followers.

"They were always aware about this because I never hide it," she told Buzzfeed News. "I always tell (them) the apps I use."

"Actually I'm the first one to tell the joke (that) the clouds are following me around the world.

"I really don't see the big deal (here), I never lied about it," she said. "I haven't done anything wrong, and it was never my intention."

While some followers were disappointed at the reveal ("There's so many people who want what she has: a fabricated online reality."), others have pointed out that this is pretty normal behaviour on Instagram ("God forbid people actually edit their photos. It's done all the time in marketing.")
