One of Australia's most iconic island resorts hopes to capitalise on pent-up demand from luxury travellers here and overseas with the unveiling of 12 luxury new adults-only beachfront pavilions just steps from the Coral Sea.

The much-loved Intercontinental Hayman Island Resort with its instantly recognisable pool unveiled the luxury pavilions on September 1, offering guests 24-hour concierge service, in-room dining, on demand buggy transfers and access to all the 168-room five-star resort has to offer.

Offering true barefoot luxury, the 45-square-metre freestanding pavilions are away from the main resort, while the Hayman Residences, built in 2017 and designed by the late and lauded architect Kerry Hill, sit discreetly above on a private hilltop.

The new pavilions are expected to meet increased demand for the resort's premium suites and luxury experiences.

Each pavilion offers a king-size bed dressed in soft grey linen, freestanding bath, crisp blue and white interiors and alfresco balcony spilling out to a private heated plunge pool overlooking Hayman Bay.

Expected to meet increased demand for the resort's premium suites and luxury experiences, resort general manager Arpad Romandy anticipates the Daarc Studio- designed pavilions to be popular with guests yearning for privacy and seclusion.

The pavilions are the latest addition to the private island at the northernmost tip of Queensland's Whitsundays. Hayman unveiled a $135 million refurbishment in 2019 that included eight, 120-square-metre adults-only beach villas, also designed by Kerry Hill, housing open-air private pools, outdoor terraces and superb sea vistas.

Pavilions from $2750 a night and include breakfast and concierge service. See haymanisland.intercontinental.com
