I love boutique hotels with a personal touch. A recent favourite has been the Olsen in South Yarra, Melbourne. Gorgeous room, lots of personality, great staff and killer coffee.

I fly a lot and as great as our budget airlines are, there’s nothing like the full service of Qantas. Flying business class to Perth recently was a real eye-opener. Instead of wanting to land quickly I just wanted to stay in the air. One of my worst flying experiences recently was being subjected to the weighing of my hand luggage. As a photographer I’m usually packing some hefty camera gear. I came out of that experience a lot poorer.

Barefoot Island Resort in the Yasawa Islands, Fiji. I spent my days swimming with manta rays, snorkelling and having my first scuba dive with their fantastic staff. The "glamping" style upmarket accommodation is lovely and they have fast internet.

I have an extra large Samsonite hard case in red. It cost me a small fortune but I need something hardy to handle my tripods, camera accessories and gear. I also have a Lowepro camera bag and I’m always confident my gear is safe.

My Mophie Juice Pack, otherwise known as a portable iPhone charger. I can get six or seven charges out of it before it needs its own charge. The iPhone 5 is many things but the battery life is bad for a heavy user like me.

I’m heading to Maryville, Victoria and then to Bundaberg, Queensland for the start of the turtle season. As for a holiday, I’m thinking of taking my mum to Spain.
