Miles - Places to See

Miles Historical Village
There is little doubt that the major attraction the town has to offer the visitor is the excellent Miles Historical Village and Museum in Murilla St, tel: (07) 4627 1492. The highlight is Pioneer Street, an accurate recreation of a Queensland country town's main street at the turn of the century which contains a post office, a general store, a bakery and a pub. The complex also features the old Australian Bank of Commerce, the Murilla Express building, an old cafe and Andersen's Smithy where the famous Condamine Bell was first made. The superb museum is a suitable companion piece to the equally excellent museum at Chinchilla. They were developed concurrently and are designed to complement each other and offer the visitor a comprehensive picture of the early history of the area. The Miles Wildflower Festival
An attraction for travellers who visit the area in September is the Miles Wildflower Festival which is a reminder that, in spring, the area around Miles is alive with dramatic and beautiful displays of native wildflowers.
