MY ONE DREAM DESTINATION IS STILL …
Arles, Provence. Every summer this idyllic city in the south of France is home to one of Europe's most prestigious photography festivals - Les Rencontres d'Arles. It is a place to see incredible art and meet with photographers and curators from around the world, all under the scorching Mediterranean sun.
WHEN THIS IS ALL OVER I'M DREAMING OF VISITING …

My family in the UK. It sounds like it is still a long way off, but hopefully I can visit them again soon. And after some family time, I would catch up with friends in Berlin and have some down time on a Greek Island. I would settle for any of them, but Folegandros and Anafi are particular favourites.
MY DREAM TRAVEL BUBBLE DESTINATION IS …
Japan. I have only visited once before when I was touring an exhibition to Tokyo and Osaka. I would love to return and spend more time exploring the photography scene. There is an incredibly refined photographic culture in Japan and, while there are some amazing Japanese artists in PHOTO 2021, there are many more that I would like to discover for future festivals.
MY DREAM DOMESTIC DESTINATION IS …
Queensland. When PHOTO 2021 finishes, I am going to take a week off and would love to explore more of Australia. Apart from a brief visit to QAGOMA (the Qld Gallery of Modern Art) in Brisbane, I haven't spent much time in Queensland and the coast looks stunning. I haven't had much time to research exactly where I would like to visit, but Fraser Island looks stunning.
MY DREAM DOMESTIC TRIP SO FAR HAS BEEN ...
Sydney. I always love visiting. I was last there to visit the Biennale of Sydney before travel was restricted and have not been back since. It's great for work, to meet with artists and to catch up with friends, with the occasional swim in the mix. It is a naturally beautiful city. That said, I do always love coming home to Melbourne.
Melbourne's Elias Redstone is the Artistic Director for PHOTO 2021 International Festival of Photography. PHOTO 2021 is a major new festival of photography. Running until March 7, it spans Melbourne and regional Victoria, with exhibitions, events and photography installed at unexpected sites. See photo.org.au
