My dream destination: Stacey Alleaume, principal soprano, Opera Australia
MY ONE DREAM DESTINATION IS STILL …
Bregenz, Austria. I fell in love with this city immediately. Every summer in Bregenz there is a large-scale opera festival on the seebühne (lake stage) of Lake Constance. In 2019, I made my European debut there, performing the role of Gilda in Rigoletto. Singing Gilda's famous aria Caro Nome from a helium balloon, 15 metres high and dangling my legs over the side of the basket for an audience of 7000 – what a thrilling experience and incredible view.
WHEN THIS IS ALL OVER I'M DREAMING OF VISITING …
Europe, to walk the Camino de Santiago from Saint Jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. A pilgrimage is a once in a lifetime experience and I dream of traversing through different landscapes, escaping the busyness of everyday life, and making a connection with my inner self.
MY DREAM TRAVEL BUBBLE DESTINATION IS …
Fiji. I have been there before and I absolutely love it. My husband and I stayed in a beach-side bungalow on a small island. We went sailing and enjoyed cocktails at sunset. The perfect relaxing vacation.
MY DREAM DOMESTIC DESTINATION IS …
The Daintree. I would love to see one of the oldest living rainforests in the world. Generally when I travel, I am living in the centre of busy cities, so when I have the opportunity to have a vacation I try to find peaceful, relaxing destinations to visit.
MY DREAM DOMESTIC TRIP SO FAR HAS BEEN ...
Yeppoon, Queensland. I have family there and it's always a great beachside getaway. I always enjoy the short ferry trip to Great Keppel Island; it's a nice day trip.
Stacey Alleaume plays the lead role in Opera Australia's La Traviata on Sydney Harbour, March 26 – April 25. See opera.org.au
