On the money for the Chinese New Year

There are now many airlines and flights between Sydney/Brisbane and southern China. There are many cheap fares, too. My wife and I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to see China during the Chinese New Year period. We would like to travel independently, taking in Hong Kong, Guilin, a Yangtze cruise and Yangshuo (pictured). Which airline and/or package would suit us?

These are many possibilities for the itinerary you have in mind and since budget, time frame, your personal interests and style of travel all come into the picture, you need to talk to a travel agent.

Helen Wong's Tours (helenwongs tours.com) and Wendy Wu Tours (wendywutours.com.au) are two highly respected travel agents with many years of expertise in China. Each company has a range of off-the-shelf tours and if one suits your needs, you can be assured of a wonderful, well-organised trip at a reasonable price.

Each can also help if you want a more personalised tour tailored to your specific requirements. Chinese New Year falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice, so this year it begins on February 3 and is the year of the rabbit.
