Ovolo Laneways: Melbourne's spectacular new penthouse

Hong Kong hotel chain Ovolo have given their Melbourne hotel, Ovolo Laneways, a swanky facelift with the launch of a new Penthouse and two Terrace Suites.

The new suites have been designed by HASSELL and are inspired by Melbourne's characteristic laneways. They intend to 'evoke feelings of continuous discovery' for guests during their stay.

The suites include two bedrooms, one en-suite, a second bathroom, a spacious lounge and dining area, as well as three flat-screen TVs, state-of-the-art sound systems and private balconies to watch the sun set while enjoying complimentary drinks from the in-suite mini bar.

Yes - you read right. Complimentary.

The snacks and drinks from the mini bar are indeed free and replenished daily. The super-speedy wi-fi also comes at no extra cost. And there's a two-hour happy hour in the Lo Lounge every day between 6pm and 8pm. Breakfast is also part of the all-inclusive service concept. Can't live without your Nintendo Wii or Apple TV? These are also gratis.

And it's these well-thought-out, modern flairs to service and design that give Ovolo Laneways an edge.

To represent Melbourne's diversity, Ovolo collaborated with local designers and artists, including Loom Rugs, Luke Furniture, Jardan Furniture and Great Dane Furniture to bring colour to the bespoke suites.

Moody corridors exhibit local artwork and brightly coloured doors accentuate the individual character of the suites.

"Ovolo Laneways is full of surprises and hidden treasures, just like Melbourne. We worked with HASSELL to capture the city's rich character and Ovolo Hotels' heritage through the design of each unique suite," said Chief Operating Officer of Ovolo Group, Dirk Dalichau.
