The very modern-day phenomenon of passengers treating the plane as their living room shows no sign of abating.

Step forward (pun intended) this example posted on Reddit.

The unidentified woman who took the photo on a recent journey showed a pair of dirty feet on her headrest, dangling just inches above her.

She wrote: "This is the one thing I am most worried about before getting on a plane."

As expected, people on social media have opinions.

Many called it "gross", "inconsiderate", and like a "horror movie".

Some said the woman should take revenge.

"Fake a sneeze, and flick a bunch of water on their feet. You won't see them again," wrote one commentator. "Lick their feet to establish dominance," added another.

Exposed feet on a plane seems to be an increasing trend in travel.

Comedian Andy Richter went on a recent Twitter rant when a passenger put his feet on the TV screen, another had a video of a passenger using their bare feet to work a touchscreen monitor on the wall, while one young child in the US went a more direct route and told off the person behind him after some unwanted "stinky" toes appeared next to him.
