With various travel restrictions now imposed for those wanting to travel interstate out of NSW here is what the airlines are saying if you need to cancel flights.

Jetstar says it will let all customers flying to or from NSW between now and January 31 cancel their booking and receive a voucher for the full value in light of COVID-19 travel restrictions being reimposed.

"If any flight is cancelled due to border restrictions, we'll contact customers directly with a range of options, which may include an alternative flight or a refund depending on the circumstances," the budget airline said on Friday morning.

Jetstar customers can process their cancellations online.

All states and the Northern Territory have imposed some form of restrictions on people travelling from NSW following Sydney's northern beaches COVID-19 outbreak.

Qantas and Virgin already had flexible booking policies in place, as follows:

Qantas: all customers can change their booking once without paying the change fee on bookings for flights out to March 31, 2021, up to the day before their departure. Customers have to pay the difference if their new fare is more expensive, and may have to pay a fee if they want to change their booking again. Normal cancellation rules apply.

Virgin: For domestic bookings made after April 21 2020, all customers can change their flights up to January 31 an unlimited number of times without paying a change fee. Flights between February 1 and March 31 can also be changed for a "COVID-19" reason, such as border restrictions or quarantine requirements. Customers pay for fare differences. Normal cancellation rules apply.
