Asia-based Ayana Resorts is launching the world's largest specially built phinisi cruise ship AYANA Lako di'a this July in Labuan Bajo in Indonesia's Komodo Islands, where a new resort is also opening. A phinisi is the traditional sailing craft of the Sulawesi Konjo people, and this 54-metre-long version, with a 39-metre mast, will have nine cabins, full dining options and carry water-sports equipment. The luxury yacht offers two-, three- or five-night excursions that will take in Komodo National Park, famous for its Komodo dragons but also a notable scuba-diving destination.
Ponant has released its 2019 itineraries for the Mediterranean and northern Europe, featuring 46 cruises, some showcasing forthcoming new ships Le Bougainville and Le Dumont-d'Urville. Five are new itineraries, including an Eternal Aegean cruise from Valletta to Istanbul, an Adriatic cruise between Naples and Venice, and a Mediterranean Islands itinerary from Nice to Athens. Australia company Cruise Traveller has partnered with India-based Adventure Resorts and Cruises on a 19-night Wild India package departing on April 1, 2019, that links a 12-night land exploration of Indian wildlife sanctuaries with a seven-night cruise on the Brahmaputra River in Assam. It opens with a night in Delhi and three nights each in Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench national parks before travellers board the 46-guest river ship Mahabaahu for a seven-night journey on the Brahmaputra between Neamati Ghat and Guwahati, taking in monasteries, tea plantations, palaces, elephant safaris and views of the Himalayas.
