Tauck announces cruise for beer-lovers featuring Oktoberfest

Tauck has announced a new, 10-day Autumn Along the Rhine cruise with two departures on September 16 and September 24, 2019, timed to finish with two hotel nights in Munich during the renowned Oktoberfest, and including lunch in an Oktoberfest tent. The river cruise also visits Amsterdam – with a walking tour of favourite local breweries and eateries – as well as German cities Dusseldorf and Heidelberg, where a beer-pairing lunch is held in a brewery. The cruise also visits Strasbourg in France and (on an extension by land) Lucerne and Mt Pilatus in Switzerland.

RIVER YOGA

Uniworld is enhancing its Golden Triangle & Sacred Ganges river cruise in 2019 with the introduction of a wellness program centred around yoga. Available on every sailing, the complimentary program, led by a certified and resident yogi, will feature daily sessions that introduce different types of yoga, plus group lectures, classes and individualised meetings. HERE BE DRAGONS

Asia-based Ayana Resorts is launching the world's largest specially built phinisi cruise ship AYANA Lako di'a this July in Labuan Bajo in Indonesia's Komodo Islands, where a new resort is also opening. A phinisi is the traditional sailing craft of the Sulawesi Konjo people, and this 54-metre-long version, with a 39-metre mast, will have nine cabins, full dining options and carry water-sports equipment. The luxury yacht offers two-, three- or five-night excursions that will take in Komodo National Park, famous for its Komodo dragons but also a notable scuba-diving destination.

ISLAND HOPPING

Ponant has released its 2019 itineraries for the Mediterranean and northern Europe, featuring 46 cruises, some showcasing forthcoming new ships Le Bougainville and Le Dumont-d'Urville. Five are new itineraries, including an Eternal Aegean cruise from Valletta to Istanbul, an Adriatic cruise between Naples and Venice, and a Mediterranean Islands itinerary from Nice to Athens. Also new is an Island Jewels itinerary from Athens to Barcelona that visits Delphi, Olympia and Palermo, and an Ancient Greece to Italian Shores cruise from Athens to Livorno that also takes in significant ruins.

WILD INDIA

Australia company Cruise Traveller has partnered with India-based Adventure Resorts and Cruises on a 19-night Wild India package departing on April 1, 2019, that links a 12-night land exploration of Indian wildlife sanctuaries with a seven-night cruise on the Brahmaputra River in Assam. It opens with a night in Delhi and three nights each in Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench national parks before travellers board the 46-guest river ship Mahabaahu for a seven-night journey on the Brahmaputra between Neamati Ghat and Guwahati, taking in monasteries, tea plantations, palaces, elephant safaris and views of the Himalayas.
