The list of countries requiring proof of vaccination against COVID-19 as a condition of entry continues to shrink. Not because the battle against the pandemic has been won, far from it, but rather countries around the globe are accepting the need to live with COVID-19.

Europe is open to all, although some countries such as Italy require a health declaration. Some Asian countries still enforce strict controls for incoming travellers, and those controls are tough in the case of Hong Kong, but Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia all have an open-door policy.

Even New Zealand, which sealed its borders far longer than most countries, no longer requires a COVID-19 vaccination for incoming travellers.

Despite the easing of vaccination requirements, international travellers continue to fall prey to the coronavirus, and cautious travellers will continue to maintain their vaccination schedule and take all sensible precautions against infection.

USA

Non-U.S. citizens must show proof of full vaccination with an accepted COVID-19 vaccine before boarding a flight to the United States. Full vaccination includes single-dose vaccines, two-dose vaccines or two doses of different vaccines provided they were administered at least 17 days apart. Vaccinations must be completed at least two weeks prior and all the vaccines administered in Australia are accepted.

Indonesia

Fully vaccinated travellers are allowed to enter Indonesia provided the second or third dose or booster was administered at least 14 days before departure for Indonesia. Travellers must download the PeduliLindungi contact tracing app, which also stores the user's digital COVID-19 vaccination and test certificates. After submitting the required documentation, approval from Indonesia's Ministry of Health can take up to five working days. All travellers must undergo health screening on arrival in Indonesia. Anyone presenting with COVID-19 symptoms will be required to take a COVID-19 RT-PCR test.

Upon arrival they must undertake a PCR test however they are not required to await the result before leaving the airport and proceeding to their accommodation in Hong Kong. When the PCR test confirms a negative status, they are under medical supervision and prevented from entering premises such as restaurants and bars for the following three nights.

Fiji

All incoming travellers must show proof of full vaccination against Covid-19. They must also obtain a travel insurance policy with coverage for COVID-19-related medical expenses in Fiji, and proof may be required. Alternatively, travellers may opt for FijiCare [fijivisitorsinsurance.com] COVID-19 travel insurance.

Singapore

Travellers 13 years and over must show proof of a recognised COVID-19 vaccination program, completed at least two weeks before arrival. All the vaccines administered in Australia are recognised, provided at least two doses have been administered.

Dubai

Alternatively, they can present proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 48 hours before boarding their flight to Dubai.

Philippines

Fully vaccinated travellers aged 12 years and older can enter the Philippines. Three days prior to departure for the Philippines, travellers must register with the Bureau of Quarantine's OneHealthPass online registration website [onehealthpass.com.ph] and save their transaction number.
