My husband and I are booked on a flight to Iceland in October. We will be staying four nights but haven't booked any activities. Accommodation will be easy but should we book day trips and excursions from here or wait until we get to Reykjavik? My plans are the golden circle tour, the blue lagoon, volcanoes and glaciers and the northern lights. I am concerned about availability and would appreciate your opinion. If we should pre book, do you have

recommendations for tour operators? B. Mikalauskas, Greystanes

You're hitting all the right notes with the tours you have in mind and although October is outside peak time for visitors you're absolutely right, Iceland is immensely popular. Since you know what tours you want, why not book now and avoid the risk of encountering problems later on?

Iceland Horizon (icelandhorizon.is) is a family-operated, small group tour specialist and their trips get great reviews. Goecco (goecco.com) is another small-group tour operator that gets universal applause from paying customers. These are both high quality operators. Take a look at their reviews on Tripadvisor (tripadvisor.com.au).

Regarding accommodation, when you book your tour you might ask whether October is likely to be busy, and also whether they have any particular hotel recommendations.
