Giving new meaning to the term "short stay", Victoria's wine regions are playing host to a unique vineyard visit opportunity. But you'll need to be quick; the set-up will only be available for a good time, not a long time.

Wine Down Pop Up is a collaboration between shipping container conversion outfit Contained and Visit Victoria. Wine Victoria, in partnership with Visit Victoria and the broader industry, has developed five distinctive wine destinations which highlight world-class wine experiences in Victoria. This includes two new wine destinations – Pinot Coast and Shiraz Central – along with the established wine destinations of King Valley Prosecco Road, Rutherglen and Yarra Valley.

Wine Down Pop Up, in this, its second year, is designed to highlight that.

It sees two luxury pods set up amid the vines for a limited time at three popular wineries. Firstly, and currently, they are available at Seville Estate in the Yarra Valley. They'll then move on to Montalto on the Mornington Peninsula and then to All Saints Estate at Rutherglen.

Each pod is fitted out like a boutique hotel room, with a luxurious bathroom and high-end bed linens. Each has a private deck – perfect for enjoying the local produce from the minibar and breakfast hamper.

A third pod, available to all winery visitors, houses an immersive wine bar where guests sample vintages and matched foods while experiencing via virtual reality, the Victorian wine regions from which they come.

The whole set-up is powered by a Black Stump Solar Energy Generator, making it net zero carbon. An electric BMW i3 is available to staying guests to encourage regional exploration. But for those who just want to kick back, there's also an inviting hot tub on offer.

Seville Estate hosts Wine Down Pop Up February 28 – March 28; it's at Montalto April 3 – May 2; then All Saints Estate May 8 – June 7.

From $275 a night.
