Timber Creek - Places to See

Timber Creek Police Station

The old Timber Creek Police Station, which was built in 1908, is a fine example of the public architecture of the time. With its well covered verandahs and its determination to keep out the worst of the tropical heat it is an indication of what life must have been like in the town at the turn of the century. Located to the west of the town it is now owned by the National Trust.

Today Timber Creek is a popular place for barramundi fishermen. The opening of nearby Gregory National Park (see Victoria River) and the boat tours through the park which depart from Timber Creek (telephone (08) 8975 0850) have done much to make the settlement much more than a roadside stopover point.
