Top ranked places on Airbnb and Stayz: Australia's most popular holiday rental properties

The summer holidays are around the corner and with international travel off the table, holidaymakers are scouring the market for domestic getaways.

Short-term holiday rental websites Airbnb and Stayz have released a list of their top Australian homes.

The Airbnb ranking was determined by the residents of each state between June and September. The top picks reflect the most "wishlisted" or saved properties during that period.

The Stayz list is a simple top three, reflecting the platform's annual Holiday Home of the Year awards.

Both lists cover property types from treehouses, tiny houses and penthouses, with amenities ranging from five-star luxury to off-the-grid bush living. There are some budget options and some definitely not-so-budget options.

Most places suit two people, but some include extra rooms and/or beds (for an extra charge). Prices listed below are for two adults for two nights over the Anzac Day weekend in April 2021 (where available) and include all booking and cleaning fees.
