Travel tips: Where is the best place to see The Northern Lights?
MY WIFE AND I ARE TRAVELLING TO EUROPE IN MID-OCTOBER WITH FINNAIR. I'VE HEARD THAT AUTUMN IS A GOOD TIME TO SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS FROM LAPLAND. IF SO, WHERE WOULD BE THE BEST SITE? G. STRACKE, CARNEGIE
One of the best places to see aurora borealis is the city of Rovaniemi, visitrovaniemi.fi/, on the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland. Rovaniemi has good flight connections with a daily service from Helsinki with Finnair and plenty of accommodation choices. Since you're flying with Finnair, Rovaniemi dovetails well with your itinerary. The northern lights begin appearing in late August but September and October are ideal aurora viewing months.
