Tree Fern Lodge, Beaumont accommodation review: Weekend away

Tree Fern Lodge, Beaumont, NSW.

The location

Tree Fern Lodge is a hidden oasis 20 minutes from Berry.

The place

The property features two self-contained timber buildings, joined by a covered verandah, on the edge of your own personal rainforest. The sleeping wing - originally a beachside kiosk at Kiama - accommodates up to seven people. The living area is part of the newer building - it's well-equipped with a warm, country feel, and looks out across the property and coastal plains.

The experience

Maintained as a nature reserve with plenty of native flora, fauna and quirky outdoor artworks, the property is a perfect base for visitors who like to explore their surroundings, sketch, indulge a passion for photography or simply enjoy hours of quiet contemplation. Make the most of 12 uninterrupted hectares of nature - or potter around Berry's varied shopping delights, including the flotsam and flora of the Moss Nest homewares store.

Don't miss

Kangaroo Valley is just 20 minutes' drive away, and is ideal for a spot of kayaking. Or drive on to Berry and beyond to enjoy Seven Mile Beach. If self-catering sounds like too much hard work, head into Berry for David Campbell's innovative take on Asian food at the Good Food Guide-recommended Hungry Duck, or try the Sourdough Cafe to savour local produce served up with a little city flair.
