Family of two adults and three kids looking for reasonably priced accommodation in LA's West Hollywood. Any suggestions? J. Ollerton, North Blackburn

Looking on Airbnb for a notional stay in April I'm seeing plenty of choice around $US350 a night for a comfortable two-bedroom apartment that sleeps five in West Hollywood.

You could even go as low as $US250 a night, and you get a full-size kitchen so bigtime savings on breakfasts and other meals if you want to, but eating out is an all-time bargain in Los Angeles.

I'm suggesting Airbnb because it works well. You get to see reviews from guests who stayed and there's a fail-safe mechanism in that the host doesn't get paid until after you've checked in.

I'm writing this from an Airbnb in Puglia, one of six I'm staying in on a self-funded Italian trip.

I prefer to pay for my stays in the currency of the country I'm visiting since it's cheaper, therefore nominate US dollars as your default currency for this trip.
