Wirrulla - Fast Facts

Wirrulla
Small Eyre Peninsula wheatbelt town
Wirrulla is nothing more than a tiny Eyre Peninsula wheatbelt town servicing the surrounding cereal and sheep farmers and providing basic facilities for motorists driving the lonely Eyre Highway. Located 362 km from Port Augusta and 674 km from Adelaide the town probably has a population of no more than 60 people. It is possible for people heading west to divert 35 km south to Streaky Bay and Haslam and to then drive up the coast road to Ceduna. This route is far more attractive and interesting than the rather boring 96 km drive through wheat country from Wirrulla to Ceduna. It is also possible for 4WD enthusiasts to head north from here through the Gawler Ranges to Glendambo on the Stuart Highway.
