Mexico's glass-floored, cliffside Copper Canyon Cocktail Bar will not be one for vertigo sufferers.

Set above a canyon overlooking the Basaseachic Falls, the country's second highest waterfall, the new restaurant designed by architectural firm Tall Arquitectos, will feature two levels, including a lower level with a central glass-floored dining and bar area, and seating along the edges of its open-air box-shaped layout for guests to enjoy dizzying views of the surrounding mountains and valley below.

Guests can take in more panoramic views from a rooftop observation deck on the upper level, or go for a swim in an outdoor swimming pool next to the restaurant.

With a minimalist exterior and interior design, an ivory and brown colour scheme and a earth field next to the pool, the Copper Canyon Cocktail Bar almost has the feel of a desert oasis. Cost estimates have not been released.

While details of if and when the building will be completed have not been released, the Copper Canyon Cocktail Bar would join the ranks of some of the world's highest restaurants if the designs became reality.

London's Sushisamba, on the 38th floor of the Heron Tower, has the UK's highest outdoor dining restaurant - accessible via two scenic lifts - featuring two terraces overlooking the city.

Allalin, the world's highest revolving restaurant, towers from the top of a glacier at 11,000 feet above sea level in the Swiss Alps. Diners have panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, as well as Italy's Po Valley.

Bangkok's Sirocco restaurant, at the lebua hotel, is said to be one of the most spacious open-air, roof-top restaurants in the Thai capital, alongside Vertigo, a rooftop restaurant at the Banyan Tree Bangkok hotel.

In Australia, 360 Bar and Dining is a revolving restaurant in Sydney Tower with panoramic views of the city of the same name.
