Emirates unveils new Boeing 777 business class seats

Emirates unveiled a new business class seat for its Boeing 777 aircraft at the world's largest tourism trade fair last week, showcasing an improved layout and fully flat bed mode.

The airline put on a giant, three-level display at the Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin to showcase its wares, including the new seat.

The new 777 business class seat brings the experience closer to that found on Emirates giant Airbus A380 superjumbo. It features an ergonomically designed headrest, a pitch of 72 inches and a fully flat sleeping position at 180 degrees, along with a 23 inch entertainment screen - the largest in the sky, according to the airline.

However, the cabin will still feature a 2-3-2 layout, unlike the A380's 1-2-1 business class, which gives all passengers direct access to the aisle.

The stand also featured a display of the airline's A380 first class suites, which famously feature a bathroom with a shower on board.

The improved comfort on the airline's 777s will be welcomed by those flying Emirates' new Dubai to Auckland route. Launched earlier this month, the flight took the title for the world's longest route from Qantas, who previously held the title for its Sydney-Dallas flight.

Although Emirates used an A380 on that inaugural Auckland flight, 777s will be the normal aircraft on the route. The epic, 14,200km route will take 17 hours, 15 minutes from Dubai to Auckland and a little under 16 hours on the return leg.
