Everyone asks: mobile sim cards

HOW DO INTERNATIONAL SIM CARDS STACK UP AGAINST THOSE FROM AUSTRALIAN PROVIDERS?

Using your smartphone to access data services overseas with your Aussie telco's SIM card installed is an expensive mistake. An international SIM card allows you to make and receive calls and text messages, and access data, just about anywhere at a much lower rate. TravelSIM (travelsim.net.au), GO-SIM (gosim.com) and OneSimCard (onesimcard.com) are popular brands. The purchase price includes some air time, which you top up as required. Using GO-SIM, for example, data services in Hong Kong or Britain cost 52¢ a megabyte and $3.18 in the US. That same Mb of data in all three regions will cost you $15.36 with a Telstra SIM card. The call rate per minute using GO-SIM is about five times less than using a Telstra SIM.
