WHERE'S THE BEST TABLE IN UBUD?
Warung Babi Guling Ibu Oka is one of my personal favourites. It serves a fantastic traditional Balinese spit-roasted suckling pig. Jl Tegal Sari No. 2, Bali.
THE LOCAL FOOD FIND OF THE PAST YEAR?
Possibly Lawar Nyawan, a traditional Balinese salad, which uses bee larvae as its main ingredient, although I'm not sure that would suit everyone's tastebuds.
WHERE DO YOU GO FOR A BIG NIGHT OUT?
I start with dinner at Mama San for some spicy Thai food and then go bar hopping at Charlie's, Mint, Hu'u and Townhouse. See mamasanbali.com
PLACE TO HEAD ON A DAY OFF?
I have three kids, so there's a lot of choice, and restrictions. [I go to] Karma Beach Club for some peace of mind or diving in Tulamben for some action. Otherwise, [I like] spending a few days with the family in Nusa Lembongan, staying at Indiana Kenanga and eating chef Clement's amazing food. See karmabeach.com
FAVOURITE INDULGENCE IN BALI?
Jajan pasar and bubur, which are local sweets to die for.
WHAT TO AVOID, FOOD-WISE, IN UBUD?
Any place that looks empty. There are still so many issues with hygiene here in Bali that it's better to stick to the busier places with high turnover. It's always a sign of quality if a place is busy.
WHAT'S HOT IN THE CITY RIGHT NOW?
For eating, La Finca, and for clubbing, Townhouse. See lafincabali.com
