Intrepid's 'ultimate' adventure route.

Tour company Intrepid has launched a new 'trip of a lifetime' that will run for 365 days, covering 34 countries across five continents.

The 'ultimate' trip encompasses most people's bucket lists in one heady adventure.

All you need is a year off and a whopping $US75,000 ($A103,769).

Starting in Bangkok, on February 3, the trip will take you through the Americas, Southeast Asia, China, Africa and India, ending in Buenos Aires on February 2, 2017.

If you've got a hankering to see Europe, this is not the trip for you. It does, however, and rather unusually, include Antarctica.

The accommodation provided is not for the princesses; although there will be 146 nights in hotels, other accommodation is wide-ranging and there's a lot of camping, 12 nights on a cruise ship and a few nights on overnight buses and trains, beach huts and 'bush camps' with no facilities.

The $US75,000 includes the cost of all accommodation and transportation - which is as varied as can be and includes rickshaws to ships to zodiacs.

It also includes a swag of activities such as Africa's Big Five, the lost city of Petra and the pyramids in Egypt.

You will, however, have to budget for 612 meals out of 1095, and you'll have to fund your own way to Bangkok and back home again from Buenos Aires.

There's also no guarantees you're going to get on with your travel buddies for the entire year.
