New research has revealed the most popular creature comforts that Britons and other nationalities can't be without on their travels.

The survey of 7,500 travellers (250 people each in 30 countries), conducted by Lowcostholidays.com, suggests that travellers worldwide share a common need to take a taste of home with them when travelling abroad.

Unsurprisingly, tea bags topped the packing list for Britons, followed by other British food staples including the often controversial Marmite spread, the classic chocolate Hob Nob biscuits, and coffee, the fifth most popular comfort item. The only non-food product to round out Britons' top five creature comforts was Vicks VapoRub, the common household ointment used to soothe chest, throat and muscle pains associated with colds, at fourth place.

Below we reveal 29 of the most popular items taken abroad by travellers around the world.
