Queensland Ballet's Artistic Director Li Cunxin shares his favourite getaway spot.

What's your go-to weekend away?

Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. We escape there for the sense of tranquillity, the serenity and balance of nature and the beautiful beaches.

Where do you stay?

At a friend's house right by the beach; we're very spoilt. The moment I take in that beautiful view, I'm instantly relaxed.

How long have you been going there?

We started visiting 10 years ago, when we lived in Melbourne, but since moving to Brisbane we visit much more frequently. We often go with our family and I'll sometimes take international choreographers, stagers and dancers, who are always blown away by the stunning beaches and national park.

A favourite memory?

Swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Little Cove and Main Beach. An added thrill is that every now and then I'll sight dolphins swimming close to shore.

What's your go-to eatery?

A Japanese restaurant called MakiMoto. I'm always impressed by the service and the sumptuous Japanese cuisine.

Your favourite local secret?

I can't go past the gorgeous Noosa National Park walk. The track winds along the coastline high up on the cliffs, then down to small sheltered coves. It's not unusual to spot dolphins or even whales swimming offshore at the right time of year. I never tire of the spectacular views.

What does a quick getaway mean to you?

An opportunity to recharge, refresh, reflect and re-energise.
