The Strait of Hormuz is one of the busiest waterways in the world and carries 40% of the world's oil. Musandam is on the very northern tip of Oman and from here we can take Dhow trips into the Straits and gaze over to the coast of Iran. As we watch dolphins jump and play we are fed bananas and oranges served with Omani coffee and dates. These ancient trading boats have plied the waters for centuries and now tourists can lay back and imagine days gone by.Credit:Sue Maziliauskas

Dauji Temple at Baldev, India (close to Agra), is sacred to Krishna's older brother, Balarama and the day after Holi, called Huranga Holi, there is a huge gathering of men who throw buckets of saffron coloured water and women who tear the men's shirts off and beat them with the wet rags. Even sitting on the ledge above the crowded procession doesn't make you immune from the water that is thrown or squirted your way.Credit:Mark Baxter

Whilst holidaying in Bali in January I found my way into a Cock Fight which are illegal but extremely popular on the island. It was an experience of mixed feelings. I was curious, excited and also saddened at the apparent cruelty. But this is part of Bali and I felt privileged to be able to get a number of photos of the actual fighting and of the people involved in it.Credit:Gary Wallis

Unperturbed by my presence, I was able to capture this gecko. He seemed to pose for the camera while standing in a river bed in Swakopmund, Namibia. The photo was taken while on a night walking safari.Credit:Richard Shakenovsky

Malacca Straits Mosque in Malaysia. This image was taken on 9th of March 2017 in the Malaysian city of Malacca which is located 150 km from capital Kuala Lumpur. It is built on a man made island as a floating structure.I was intrigued by it's beautiful architecture and location, and while only spending two full days in Kuala Lumpur I decided to catch a bus which takes 2 hours one way to photograph the mosque. Part of the building structure on the right hand side is cropped as it looked to cluttered and was affecting the overall mood of the image.I had one day to photograph it and this is the final image after spending over 4 hours in transport (buses and taxis) to get there and back. Originally I planned to take a twilight shot but was restricted due to using public transport.Credit:Semir Sidran
