Adam Radwanski, Qatar Airways, senior manager Australasia says:

"Doha, in Qatar, is growing rapidly in popularity and becoming a highly sought-after stopover destination for those travelling onwards to Europe. With Qatar's new visa-free stopover, Australian travellers can experience the city by visiting the bustling souk, sophisticated art and culture precincts or more generally experiencing the hospitality of the Qatari people.

"One must-see attraction is Souq Waqif, where old meets new and East meets West in Doha's historic market. Another is the Museum of Islamic Arts, an architectural gem with an aesthetically stunning exterior as well as an impressive collection that includes ancient sculptures, pottery and jewellery.

"Other cultural experiences include a Dhow night cruise, the Katara Cultural Village for a range of Middle Eastern restaurants, or a Qatar Desert Safari. Travellers who book by December 31, can enjoy a complimentary night stay in Doha courtesy of Qatar Airways and Qatar Tourism Authority, valid until April 30, 2018."
