Wine Down Pop Up hotels to set up on Victoria wineries: King Valley, Macedon Ranges and South Gippsland

The most southerly point of mainland Australia is found at the appropriately named South Point, on Wilson's Promontory. Yet while we're all beating a path to the Prom, its shire – South Gippsland – is still relatively unexplored, with its picturesque villages and crossroads, such as Fish Creek, Koonwarra and the little foodie haven of Mirboo North, on the Strezlecki Ranges' Grand Ridge Road.

Enter Wine Down Pop Up, two pop-up shipping containers that are rolling through the Victorian countryside over the next three months, setting up for a month apiece on one winery in the King Valley, Macedon Ranges and South Gippsland.

The containers may have shaken off their industrial lives, but their transitory nature remains as they are adorned with the glamour of a mini moving hotel of two. Expect queen-sized beds dressed in white linen, air-con and heating, a minibar and a Melbourne immersion of toiletries by Melbourne's Hunter Lab and coffee from Pod & Parcel. There's even a portable, wood-fired hot tub moving around with the pods.

The pod-cation kicks off with sleeper hit winery Waratah Hills in South Gippsland (April 3-28) before hitting the road for Dal Zotto in King Valley (May 6-June 2) and then on to Mount Towrong in the Macedon Ranges (June 7-July 7).
