Getting to Bawah Reserve involves a short ferry ride from Singapore to Batam, Indonesia then a little over an hour's flight by seaplane 300 kilometres north-east to Indonesia's remote Anabas Archipelago and its luxury digs.

Now, just that little bit further, three minutes by boat off of Bawah's main island, Elang, is the second of the reserve's islands to be opened to guests.

Each of the six cliffside lodges made of bamboo, driftwood, glass and hand-cut stone come with a private butler, sea views and private paths that lead to rocky coves.

The communal Clubhouse has a two-storey open-air dining room and a saltwater infinity pool formed by a natural hollow while the Kayu Spa is in a restored joglo, a traditional Javanese house.

Guests on Elang are welcome to visit the main island on the reserve which has three lagoons, six islands, thirteen beaches and 300 hectare of forest which by day offers kayaking, scuba diving and private beach picnics

On the main island guests can dine at height in the Treetops restaurant that's surrounded by rainforest, or eat local seafood at the Boathouse.

Elang can be be booked for a single lodge stay or the entire island can be hired for exclusive use.
